My brother spent a year in rural India dedicated to bringing girls back to school. I was inspired by him to do good and I am particularly interested in how I can make use of technology to help people. I hope to learn more about the intricate workings behind VR and how we can expand its uses to help more people.
A few years ago, I chanced upon a video of a grandmother using VR to see the outside world. She was delighted. This made me realised the potential of VR in bringing about social good to others. Through this project, I hope to be able to gain a better understanding of the different social groups involved and be able to make a difference in improving their lives.
I do believe in the power of technology and hope to change people's life with my own ideas and products. That's the reason I joined this team and decided to use virtual reality to improve the quality of life in of those who are not as lucky as we are. After the 18-month journey, I believe we will become capable and helpful engineers who do bring some good change to others' lives.
It's an amazing idea for me to explore VR's potential benefits to the society. The excitement from it is way beyond that from VR's entertaining functions. I hope to learn more about the people with physical constrains or medical conditions and how to apply our knowledge to help them.
